The Madge gel system is based on a standard microplate array format. The array is rotated to extend the track length for migration of nucleic acid or protein samples eg. for a 96 well format, with a 9mm well to well distance and 2mm cubic wells, the rotation angel of 71.6oC extends the track length to 26 mm. The stretch Madge format extends the length further to 46mm by using a different rotation angle, and slightly smaller wells. Rapid loading of sample into the wells is achieved using a multichannel pipette or a 96-pin passive replicator 'RepMate'.
